Creamy Sausage Bites

This is so easy, quick, and hearty. It can make a wonderful appetizer or a simple breakfast/dinner. Whenever you choose to serve it, it makes a great dish! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
-2 lbs bulk hot pork sausage
-2 (8 oz each) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
-1/2 tsp salt
-1/4 tsp pepper
-4 (8 oz each) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
Directions:
In a large skillet, brown the sausage. Drain and return to stove. Stir in the cream cheese, salt, and pepper. Give it a good stir and cook until cheese is well incorporated. Remove skillet from stove.
Preheat oven to 375 F. 
Place two of the crescent roll packs on a cookie sheet. Press the seams together so that they form one large unfolded roll. Spread sausage mixture  evenly on top. Place remaining crescent dough on top, closing the seams.
Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until dough is golden brown on top. 
Remove from oven and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Using a pizza cutter, cut into squares. Enjoy!
