Chocolate Chip Cookies

Someone once told me that the secret to nice puffy, non-flat cookies is to use half butter/margarine and half shortening.  With great anticipation, I followed that advice when I made this cookies.  Sadly, the cookies still came out flat.  Delicious, nonetheless, but flat.  Do you want to share the secret to non-flat cookies with me?  How do you do it?  Thank you in advance.:)
These cookies are still very yummy and chocolaty.  They're perfect for a get together or as a nice treat.  Enjoy!
Ingredients:
-3/4 cup brown sugar
-1/2 cup sugar
-1/2 cup margarine/butter
-1/2 cup shortening
-1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-1 egg
-1 3/4 cup flour
-1 tsp baking soda
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 F.  Line cookie sheets with parchment paper
In a large bowl, beat together brown sugar, sugar, margarine and shortening.  When light and fluffy, add vanilla and egg.  Blend well.  Stir in flour, baking soda and salt.  Mix well.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Drop dough by spoonfuls into prepared sheets.  Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Enjoy!

Ioana, I think they come out fluffy only when you use 1005 margarine and maybe shortening. I Mine always come out fluffy becuase I never (cannot) use butter. Ella in fact would like them flat... lol! :) I never tried shortening but that may also do the trick. They look yummy nonetheless.
oh, I meant to say 100% and not 1005.... lol

Thanks, Cristina! I tried only margarine and they're still flat. Oh well, at least they taste delicious! :)

Funny how I only want flat cookies and had to search so much to find out how to make them flat. Now if I can remember the recipe I used for them to be fluffy. I think the one on the package of the chocolate chip bag is a good one.
