Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies

Warning:  These cookies are highly addictive!  I'm not kidding!  One bite and you have to have tons more. The chocolate blends perfectly with the maraschino cherries. Super YUM!  Enjoy!
Yields 5-6 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
For cookies:
-2 sticks unsalted butter
-2 cups sugar
-1/2 tsp baking soda
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp salt
-2 tsp vanilla extract
-1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-2 large eggs
-3 cups flour
-2 (10 oz each) maraschino cherries, stems removed AND reserve 4 Tbs juice
For chocolate sauce:
-2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
-1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
-4 tbs reserved juice from maraschino cherries
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
In a small sauce pan, melt the butter.  Add the sugar and cook, stirring often, until completely melted.
Pour mixture into your electric mixer's bowl and cool for 5 minutes.
With the mixer on low, start stirring the sugary mixture.  Add the baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla and cocoa powder.  Mix very well.  Add the eggs, one at a time.  Add the flour, half of cup at the time.  The dough will be on the stiff side.
Make small balls out of dough and place on prepared cookie sheets.  Use the entire dough at once or it will become dry and crumbly!
Using your thumb, make an indentation in each cookie.  Place one cherry in each indentation.
Once that's done, let's make the chocolate sauce (it will be thick): melt the chocolate chips along with the milk and cherry juice.  Stir until nice and smooth. Pour a little on top of each cookie to cover the cherries, but make sure it doesn't run on the sides.
Place cookies in preheated oven and bake for 10-11 minutes.
Remove from oven and place sheets on wire rack for 3-4 minutes. Remove cookies straight onto wire rack and let cool completely.  Enjoy these pieces of heaven!
