Easy Fresh Strawberry Pie (no jello)

Strawberry season is here and there are so many wonderful ways to enjoy them. I had a pie crust that needed to be used and tons of fresh strawberries. So here's an amazing way to enjoy them both. Yum!

Ingredients:
-1 (9 inch) frozen deep dish pie crust, baked according to package directions
-2 lbs strawberries
-1 cup warm water
-3 Tbs cornstarch
-1 cup sugar
Directions:
Hull all strawberries. Fill 1 cup with some and roughly chop those.
Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and pour into small saucepan. Add the chopped strawberries and bring to a boil. Mash the strawberries a bit and add the sugar. Mix very well and cook until thickened, mixing occasionally (this can take about 10-15 minutes).
While that's cooking, slice remaining strawberries and add them to the baked and cooled crust.
When the sauce has thickened, remove the saucepan from the stove and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, pour over the sliced strawberries.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Slice, top with some whipped cream, if desired, and enjoy! Yum!
