Jake's Teriyaki
This is super easy and so versatile, as you can use any protein and veggies you like. My friend, Jake, shared his sauce recipe with me after I tasted it from him. So very delicious! In the picture I have teriyaki steak with onions, peppers, and baby bellas. So, so tasty! I served ours on top of some brown rice. Enjoy!
Ingredients:For teriyaki sauce:
-1 cup sugar
-1 cup soy sauce
-1 tsp pepper
-1 tsp ground ginger
-1 tsp garlic powder
-1 tsp onion powder
-1 tsp powder mustard
For dish:
-4 Tbs extra virgin olive oil, divided
-2 lbs steak, cut into strips
-2 large onions, halved and sliced
-2 bell peppers (yellow, orange, or red), cut into strips
-8 oz baby bella mushrooms, sliced
Directions:
In a saucepan, combine the sugar and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and cook until reduced and thickened. Add the remaining ingredients for the teriyaki sauce. Give it a good stir and cook for a couple more minutes. Remove sauce from the stove.
In a wok, heat up 2 Tbs of the oil. Add the steak strips and cook for 3-4 minutes. Remove steak onto a plate.
Return the wok to the stove and heat up remaining oil. When hot, add the onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Saute until nice and soft. Add the steak back to the wok and give it a good stir. Add 3/4 of the teriyaki sauce, mix well and cook for another couple of minutes, adding more sauce if needed.
Serve immediately over (brown) rice. YUM!
